Did you know that the nine animals in the Petting Farm at Fort Zion and The Virgin Trading Post are responsible for eating close to a whopping 5,000 lbs carrots every season?
For a dollar, visitors can buy three carrots to feed to any of our nine animals - whether it's Sundance the miniature donkey, or Sampson, Buffy and their friends the Alpacas.
On average, every month they consume around twelve 50 lbs boxes, which equates to around 4,800 lbs during our eight month opening season.
Naturally we also feed them a balanced diet suitable for their species so they don't only consume carrots.
From the photos you post we can see just how much they love getting their carrots from you, our visitors.
From Lonely Planet ....
"You can't miss the Virgin Trading Post which sells homemade fudge, ice cream, and every Western knickknack known to man. It's pure, kitschy fun."

IF YOU LIKE US, TELL THE WORLD
Customer feedback is extremely important to any business, and here at Fort Zion and the Virgin Trading Post we take each and every comment, whether made personally or online, extremely seriously. That's why we want to share this one from Yelp.com left on April 13 this year by Gwendolyn from PA.
"This was one of the highlights of our trip to Zion.Thank you Gwendolyn for leaving this wonderful review. It means the world to know we're making people happy.
"This family run business has been around for several generations and is just darling. There is a restaurant, a general store, a recreated play western village and a petting zoo with adorable animals.
"The prince of the petting zoo is Sundance, the 28-year-old donkey. He's such a sweet boy. All of the animals are rescues and are cared for by the owners.
"$1 buys three carrots. We didn't have an opportunity to try the food. Thanks Fort Zion."
